# The Open Engine > We haven't looked at our code in 8 months. The Open Engine Company builds software with agents: Zeroshot writes and verifies every change before it ships, and the three founders spend the time talking to the people who use it. Try Zeroshot at https://zeroshot.sh, or ask us anything on Discord: https://theopenengine.com/discord. The Open Engine Company builds the open infrastructure for autonomous software production in an age of abundant code generation. Intelligence must be governed by apparatus: supplied with context, bound by constraint, corrected by feedback, and examined by independent tests. The engine is layered because trust is layered. ## The engine (five layers) - [01 · Verification — Zeroshot](https://zeroshot.sh): A validation loop kept independent from the intelligence that produced the work. Install: `npm install -g @the-open-engine-company/zeroshot` - [02 · Constraints — Opcore](https://github.com/the-open-engine/opcore): Specific feedback for coding agents while they edit: it checks the current changes and returns the file, location, rule and evidence when something needs repair. Install: `npm install -g --foreground-scripts @the-open-engine-company/opcore` - 03 · Intent (in development): What was asked, made precise before any work begins. - 04 · Context (in development): The memory an agent carries from run to run. - 05 · Runtime (in development): Where agents run, whatever the vendor. ## Principles - Open: every part can be inspected or replaced. Bring your own models and your own infrastructure; there's no private gate. - Verifier-independent: the validation loop is kept independent of the intelligence that produced the work. - Proven under use: a system is proved by the steadiness with which it performs under use, not by the facility with which it is written. ## Links - [Try Zeroshot](https://zeroshot.sh) - [Zeroshot on GitHub](https://github.com/the-open-engine/zeroshot) - [Opcore on GitHub](https://github.com/the-open-engine/opcore) - [Home](https://theopenengine.com/)
